On May 16-18, the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Practices of State-Building and Local Government was held in Saint Petersburg, where the Deputy Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Araik Hovhannisyan took part.

13 draft laws were discussed. The MP has presented his remarks and recommendations particularly on the improvement of the legislation on the MPs’ Status of the Parliaments of the CIS Member States, on the draft laws on the Concept for the Stable and Secure Development of the CIS Member States, on the Principle of the Separation of the Property of the State and Its Structures and Community Entities, on the Legal Regulation and on the Methodological Proposals of the Organization of the Inter-Community Cooperation, on Model Electoral Code for the CIS Member States, which stem from the requirements of the RA legislation. Araik Hovhannisyan presented the experience of Armenia, detailing the positive examples of the establishment of the local self-government system.

The presented recommendations were mainly adopted.

The participants touched upon the draft laws debated during the previous meeting, the relevant amendments made on the basis of the RA delegation’s presented recommendations and underlined their importance.
